President Hotel Palermo assumes it is right to deploy their forces and to adopt appropriate behaviors in order to contribute to the planet defense, without sacrificing comfort.
We have implemented a series of "green" choices with the aim of limiting the environmental impact, because even small attentions and awareness of our customers can make a difference.
Our choices as green hotel
LOCAL PRODUCTS
For our foodservice, we rather choose, as far as possible, seasonal and traditional products and raw materials at Km 0, which are eco-friendly and let us support local economies.
We also offer the option to take away any leftover food on the table, avoiding waste.
ENERGY
We monitor and record total consumption through a series of measures:
- using energy-saving lamps;
- using presence sensors and intensity regulators;
- a centralized on/off system, programmable thermostat, timer;
- using magnetic cards
Eco-friendly elevators
We have chosen to install eco-friendly, latest-generation, efficient and ecological elevators for a sustainable travel experience.
CHARGING STATION FOR ELECTRIC CARS
For electric car users, private or rental, a charging station has been installed in the parking area next to the hotel, an extremely valuable resource that allows our guests – and not only – to travel in total peace.
WASTE COLLECTION
We support a policy of separate waste collection with special containers in the hotel. We carefully manage the disposal of printer toners as well.
PAPER RECYCLING
The staff embraces the green philosophy: where possible, we choose to recycle paper and limit the printing of documents, if not necessary.
LIFESTYLE
We promote physical activity, by inviting our customers to discover our decorative murals of internal stairs: in addition to the artistic aspect, they offer interesting hints for reflection about psycho-physical well-being.
Environmental Awareness
We want to raise awareness in our customers about sustainable development.
Moreover, with constant communication through social and web channels, we post news, updates, implemented actions and obtained certifications.
PLASTIC REDUCTION AND USE OF ECO-RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTS
We have been considerably reducing the use of plastic, decreasing waste and we are also working to further optimize our interventions.
We choose eco-friendly products such as Ecolabel toilet paper and, for the cleaning of our hotel, we rely on ecological and biodegradable products, by eliminating chemical detergents.
BIKE AND SCOOTER RENTAL
Discover the city and its surroundings in an eco-sustainable way through the use of bikes and scooters, which can be easily rented. A way to stop the car and let our guests experience an active holiday on two wheels.
Hosting Provider carbon free
We use SiteGround , a hosting provider that is committed to minimizing the environmental impact and carbon footprint of websites online. In 2024 our website is among the most efficient sites with 3 times less CO2 emissions per visit, with 100% balanced renewable energy use based on Google Cloud Platform and with over 11,400 trees planted through the support of Tree-Nation.
NEXT STEPS:
In short and medium term, President Hotel Palermo aims new goals:
- installing solar carpots in the parking area;
- promoting participation in environmental education activities;
- rewarding customers who adopt sustainable behaviours;
- creating its own environmental management system in order to acquire an EU certification;
- having an innovative menu that includes the carbon footprint of food, calories ingested and the necessary motor activity to burn them.
